"The April 27, 1994 elections were the culmination of decades of struggle and opened a new era of equality and opportunity in South Africa," This event, hosted by the Consulate General of South Africa in Toronto, focused on honouring individual members of the South African community in Toronto and the GTA, who have consistently demonstrated selfless commitment to betterment of the conditions and live situations and circumstances of other South Africans in Canada and in the community at large. Their deep insight into S Africa's painful past history and the historical background that now informs the way, the liberated South Africa is now progressing makes them to be ever available 'servants' at the service of their maverick new South Africa as its ambassadors in the international world stage. As South African Residents in Canada, we know from our own experiences, more often than not, the powerful and the rich of the world understand globalization and it equities as an opportunity to dictate terms to the rest of humanity.
